Routes around Da Lat
1. Central Da Lat: Xuan Huong Lake, the market and Crazy House
Start with a ride around Xuan Huong Lake, the heart of Da Lat. Nearby is the central market, which turns into a night market with street food in the evening — try bánh tráng nướng ("Vietnamese pizza") and hot soy milk. A few minutes away are Crazy House, a whimsical gallery-house shaped like a fairy-tale forest, and Da Lat's old French-built railway station.
Tip: park at the paid, guarded parking lots in the center — cheap and safe.
2. Datanla Waterfall and Tuyen Lam Lake
The road over Prenn Pass leads to Datanla Waterfall, where an alpine coaster takes you down to the water. Nearby is peaceful Tuyen Lam Lake surrounded by pines, and Truc Lam Monastery. You can also reach the monastery by cable car from Robin Hill, with views over valleys and forests.
Tip: come in the morning, before the crowds.
3. Lang Biang Mountain
Lang Biang is the best-known mountain around Da Lat. On the way you pass villages and flower farms. From the foot of the mountain you can go up to the viewpoint by jeep or on foot, and from the top you can see the whole city and the valleys around it.
Tip: it's windy and cool at the top — bring a light jacket.
4. Sunrise at the Cau Dat tea hills
The Cau Dat tea hills are one of the most photogenic places in the region. Early in the morning mist hangs over the hills and the rows of tea bushes look like waves. There are cafés on the plantations where you can drink fresh tea and coffee with a view of the valley. For this trip we recommend the Honda Air Blade 125 — it's more confident on climbs.
Tip: leave before sunrise, check the weather, and ride slowly in fog.
5. Linh Phuoc Pagoda and the Valley of Love
Linh Phuoc Pagoda in Trai Mat is famous for its mosaics made of broken ceramics and glass, and a giant dragon. On the way back you can stop at the Valley of Love — a park with a lake and flowers — or one of the many cafés overlooking the pine hills.
Tip: dress modestly at the pagoda — shoulders and knees covered.
