Why take an electric scooter to the market
The market area is close, busy and full of short stops — exactly the kind of riding an electric scooter is made for. It's quiet, easy to handle in slow traffic, and you don't need to think about gears or fuel. Each scooter comes with 2 batteries, which is far more than a market trip needs.
Best time to go
- Early morning (about 6–9 am): the market is at its liveliest with locals buying vegetables, flowers and fruit, and traffic around it is calmer than later. Our shop opens at 4:30 am, so you can stop for breakfast on the way.
- Late morning and afternoon: good for dried fruit, tea, coffee and souvenirs; the area gets more crowded.
- Evening: the streets and steps around the market become the night market. Traffic is heavy and some roads get very crowded, so park a little further away and walk in. See our night market guide.
Where to park
Use the paid parking spots (gửi xe) around the market and keep your ticket — an attendant watches the scooters. Don't leave the scooter on the footpath, in front of shop doors or where it blocks traffic. Lock the steering, take your valuables with you and leave nothing in the basket or on the hook. More in our electric scooter parking guide.

What to buy
- Fresh fruit and vegetables from the Da Lat highlands
- Dried persimmons, dried fruit and candied jams (mứt)
- Artichoke tea, local tea and coffee
- Fresh flowers — wrapped well, they travel fine for a short ride
For ideas on what to taste, see our guide to what to eat in Da Lat.
Carrying your shopping
- Small bags fit under the seat; use the hook at the front for a light bag only.
- A backpack is the safest way to carry heavier things.
- Keep both hands free for the handlebars — never ride holding bags.
- Don't stack big boxes on the footboard; if you buy a lot, ask the seller to pack it compactly or send it to your hotel.
Riding safely in the market area
- An electric scooter is almost silent: pedestrians stepping out between stalls won't hear you. Ride slowly and use the horn gently.
- Vietnam drives on the right. Watch for motorbikes turning without signalling and cars stopping to unload.
- Some streets near the market are steep. Brake early and smoothly on the way down.
- Maximum 2 riders with a combined weight under 140 kg; helmets on for both.
- No alcohol or beer when riding, and strictly follow Vietnamese traffic law.

Battery
A market trip uses only a small part of the battery. Each scooter comes with 2 batteries, and you can swap in a full one at the shop for 20,000 VND if you keep riding afterwards. See our battery guide to plan a longer day.
