Why a scooter suits a budget trip
Da Lat's centre is walkable, but most of the good stuff — waterfalls, tea hills, flower villages, pine-forest lakes — is a few kilometres out of town. A day of separate rides there and back quickly costs more than a scooter. With your own bike you also choose when to leave, so you can catch the sunrise or skip the crowds without paying for a tour.
What you pay, clearly
- 150,000 VND per day for every bike — Honda Vision 110cc, Honda Air Blade 125cc or electric scooter. One fixed price, no "from" prices.
- No cash deposit. You leave your passport or ID card, so you don't tie up travel money.
- Included: helmet, phone holder, and 1 liter of fuel in gas scooters.
- Rental day = from pick-up until 21:00. A week (7 days) is 1,050,000 VND — see our tips on renting for a week or longer.
No hidden extras: we do a test ride and film the bike's condition together before you leave, so there are no arguments about scratches when you return it.

Ways backpackers save money
- Share one bike between two. The price is per bike, not per person — two friends on one Air Blade split the day. Read about riding as two first.
- Plan loops, not zig-zags. Group sights by direction — south for Datanla and Tuyen Lam, east for Trai Mat and Cau Dat — so you use less fuel and time.
- Fill up at petrol stations, not roadside bottles: the price is on the pump.
- Park in proper parking spots (gửi xe) and keep the ticket — cheap peace of mind.
- Eat where locals eat. Markets and small street stalls are good value; our Da Lat trip budget guide has more ideas.
Which bike for a budget traveller?
The Honda Vision 110cc is light and easy in town and sips fuel. The Air Blade 125cc is better for two people and for hills and passes. The electric scooter has no fuel cost at all and is great for city rides and cafés; it comes with 2 batteries, and a battery swap at the shop costs 20,000 VND — but it is not for long, steep passes.
Arriving on the night bus or staying in a hostel
Many backpackers arrive early in the morning by bus. Our shop opens at 4:30 am, so you can pick up a bike instead of waiting for check-in. For rentals of 2 days or more we deliver free to hotels and hostels in central Da Lat; for 1 day, just message us and we'll see what's possible.
Ride smart
- Vietnam drives on the right; ride slowly on hills and in the rain.
- No alcohol or beer when riding — a hostel bar night means walking home. Strictly follow Vietnamese traffic law.
- Keep your helmet strapped on, even for short rides.
