No cash deposit — what that means
At Van Phu we don't ask for a cash deposit for any bike: Honda Vision 110cc, Honda Air Blade 125cc or electric scooter. Instead, you leave your passport (or, for Vietnamese guests, your ID card) at the shop while you have the bike. When you bring the bike back, you get your document back straight away. So motorbike rental in Da Lat with no deposit in cash is simply how we always work — not a special offer.
The rental itself is paid upfront: 150,000 VND per day for every bike, a fixed price. Our rental price guide explains exactly what is included.
Why a document instead of cash
A cash deposit means carrying a lot of money, counting it twice and worrying about getting it back. A document is simpler for both sides: you don't need to withdraw extra cash, and we know the bike will come back. It's a common way of renting scooters in Vietnam.
What to bring
- Your passport (foreign guests) or ID card (Vietnamese guests).
- The rental fee for the days you need.
- Your phone with WhatsApp, Zalo, Telegram or WeChat, so we can stay in touch during the rental.
Tip: take a photo of your passport and keep it on your phone. Many hotels in Vietnam ask to see or scan your passport at check-in, so it's easiest to check in first and pick up the bike afterwards.
How it works step by step
- Message us with your dates and the bike you'd like.
- At pick-up, you take a short test ride and we film a short video of the bike's condition together.
- You leave your passport or ID card and pay the rental fee.
- You get a free helmet and a phone holder; gas scooters come with 1 liter of fuel.
- Bring the bike back by 21:00 on your last day — a rental day runs from pick-up until 21:00 — and your document is returned to you on the spot.
Is my passport safe?
Your document is kept safely at the shop and only returned to you, the person who rented the bike. Before you leave, check that the name on the booking matches your passport, and keep the shop's contacts saved in your phone. If your plans change and you need your passport earlier — for example for a flight or a bus ticket — just tell us and return the bike first.
Good to know
- The video at pick-up protects you: it shows the bike's condition before you ride.
- If you're running late on your return day, message us before 21:00.
- No alcohol or beer when riding, and strictly follow Vietnamese traffic law.
